Entering into Manhood the way that God intended...

Think back. You were four years old, and you had just been given a shiny new bike for your birthday. The only problem was that you didn't know how to ride it. What did you do? Did you sit in a lecture hall and listen for two hours as a professor, pastor, or author lined out the "7 Steps of Effective Bike Riding?" Did you deftly navigate to YouTube and pull up a quick tutorial video on "How to Ride a Bike in 5 Minutes?" No. You didn't do any of those things. If you were like me, you had someone there to help you up onto the seat, position your little hands firmly on the handlebars, get your feet up on the pedals, and walk along side of you, steadying you and shouting words of encouragement. You learned to ride your bike by experience, and if you were as lucky as I was, that person along side of you was your dad.

My bike riding experience was a special one for me, because when I look back on it now, it was like my dad imparted to me the ability to ride a bike; something was transferred from father to son. I had something great (a shiny new bike) but I didn't know how to handle it. What I needed was a mentor - someone who loved me and was invested in me - to come along side and show me how to go about riding a bike. I got that through learning by experience with my father at my side. That's how life should be, but unfortunately, for many men, it just doesn't work out that way. What I've learned is that the same problem we had at age four is still the same problem we have at age sixteen when it's time to transition into manhood, or at age twenty-two when it's time to become a husband, father, etc. We desperately need a father figure to guide us while we ride that bike into manhood, marriage, and parenthood.

It's that realization that helped my dad and I form the vision that birthed Man Up Adventures. Our greatest desire is to equip men for the journey ahead. Maybe you didn't grow up in a home where dad was ever around, and so you've never been initiated into manhood, you've never had that father figure to show you the way. I want you to know one thing - it's not too late to still be the man, the husband, or the father you've always known you could be, the one that God is calling you to be! God has given you something great - a wife, maybe even some kids, or, if you're young and/or single, a whole future ahead of you - so come on an Adventure with us and let us use solid God-centered principles show you how to achieve authentic Biblical manhood!
