Forestville

A Man Up Campfire in Southeastern Minnesota's bluff country.

Preparing for a Campfire

The Basics About the Trip

Looking for Adventure?  Great!  Gather around the Campfire!

Our Campfire will take place in the historic bluff country of Southeastern Minnesota inside of Forestville State Park. The dates of the Campfire are Thursday afternoon, October 8th (arrival) through Monday, October 12th (departure).

The Man Up Campfire offers attendees a more laid back approach (day-hikes are optional), while still providing each man the relevant and powerful Biblical teaching that will lead them into authentic Biblical manhood.

In addition to the optional dialed-back day hikes, each participant will experience meaningful times of worship, a service on Sunday morning, passionate mini-sessions, campfire talks, morning devotions, great food, and even better fellowship. There are only 16 slots available for this trip, so you'll want to act fast! You can secure your slot by filling out the online registration form and submitting your payment. (A link can be found immediately to the right, or toward the bottom of the page.)

The pre-registration rate of $349 for this Campfire is available until July 9th, after which the rate will increase to $399. Registration will end on September 17th, 2020.

  • Check in starts at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 8th and, for those who would like to stay as late as possible, check-out is no later than 11:00am on Monday, October 12th.
  • The average high in Preston, MN during October is 60 degrees Fahrenheit (great for hiking), with an average low of 36 degrees Fahrenheit (great for campfires). October in Southeastern Minnesota generally sees a moderate amount of precipitation, so please pack weather-appropriate clothing.
  • We will be eating our supper together on Sunday evening in Preston, MN. The cost of this meal is NOT covered in the registration costs. Estimated cost of this meal is $20 - $30.
  • Forestville State Park is a fee area. The cost of entering the park is NOT covered in your registration. Four $7 daily passes can be purchased for $28 (per vehicle), or you can purchase an annual permit (good for entrance into all MN State parks) for $35/vehicle. We strongly encourage carpooling - so make sure you bring some friends!
  • Each registrant/group attending is responsible for their own transportation to and from our Forestville State Park meeting place. We strongly encourage carpooling to reduce trip costs for all those involved.
  • Once at the Park, there may be brief times of traveling to get to some of our adventure locations. We will need registrants to volunteer to drive their vehicles in a manner that is best conducive to carpooling.

We also reserve the right to decline your registration or ask you for a letter from your doctor approving your involvement if we feel that your health conditions deem it necessary.

Because every adventure needs a Guide*

Your Forestville Campfire Guides*

Let's not kid ourselves, we know that when it comes to the adventure of manhood, God is the greatest guide. There's no greater adventure than the journey towards the discovery of the man inside. God's formation of great leaders frequently led them outside - into the wilderness. Moses found himself and his God on the backside of nowhere. It was the God-ordained wilderness experience that inaugurated a young David into an influential king. Even Jesus launched his ministry immediately after a time in the wilderness. The bottom line: The wilderness makes you Man Up. As your Campfire Guides*, let us lead you into the wilderness on a similar journey into authentic Biblical manhood.
